EYFS: Progression in Nursery Literacy through the First Half of the Autumn Term

The course will :
- Identify high value learning objectives in the nursery autumn term within communication & language, reading and writing
- Explore effective teaching approaches for the autumn term
- Share two text plans for Autumn 1: (i) ‘Happy to be Me’ – Emma Dodd (ii) ‘Pete the Cat – I Love My White Shoes’ – Eric Litwin and James Dean
- Share strategies to narrow the gap in attainment during the autumn term
- Facilitate networking opportunities for delegates to share good practice
All delegates will receive a comprehensive electronic training pack, including: Small Steps in Learning for Communication, Language and Literacy in the Autumn Term; Planning for two quality texts (including – 3 weeks of detailed Literacy planning with linked cross-curriculum activities and enhancement planning); Beery Shapes Overview; Gross & Fine Motor Development Booklet; Vision for Foundational Phonics; Concept About Print Booklet; & Name Reading and Writing Booklet
* Autumn 2 text plans will be shared through a twilight meeting towards the end of autumn 1. The texts will be i) ‘Percy the Park Keeper: Hide and Seek’ – Nick Butterworth (ii) ‘Wow! Said the Owl’ – Tim Hopgood
