EYFS: Progression in Reception Literacy through the Autumn Term [Au1 text plans]

The course will :

• Identify high value learning objectives in the reception autumn term within communication & language, reading and writing
• Explore effective teaching approaches for the autumn term
• Share two text plans for Autumn 1: (i) ‘Friendship Bench’ – Wendy Meddour  (ii) ‘Amazing’ – Steve Antony
• Share strategies to narrow the gap in attainment during autumn term
• Facilitate networking opportunities for delegates to share good practice

All delegates will receive a comprehensive electronic training pack, including: Small Steps in Learning for Communication, Language and Literacy in the Autumn Term; Planning for two quality texts (including –  3 weeks of detailed Literacy planning with linked cross-curriculum activities and enhancement and challenge planning); Beery Shapes Overview; Gross & Fine Motor Development Booklet; Letter Formation Booklet; Literacy Activities Booklet; Concept About Print Booklet; & Name Reading and Writing Booklet

* Autumn 2 text plans will be shared through a twilight meeting towards the end of autumn 1. The texts will be i) ‘The Little Red Hen’ – Traditional Tale (ii) ‘Leaf Thief ‘ – Alice Hemming
