EYFS: Progression in Reception Literacy through Autumn Term [Autumn 1 Text Plans]

The course will :
- Revisit key principles from the Writing Framework to support the development of high-quality practice.
- Identify high value learning objectives in the reception autumn term within communication & language, reading and writing
- Explore effective teaching approaches for the autumn term
- Share two text plans for Autumn 1: (i) ‘Friendship Bench’ – Wendy Meddour (ii) ‘Amazing’ – Steve Antony
- Share strategies to narrow the gap in attainment during autumn term
- Facilitate networking opportunities for delegates to share good practice
All delegates will receive a comprehensive electronic training pack, including: Small Steps in Learning for Communication, Language and Literacy in the Autumn Term; Planning for two quality texts (including – 3 weeks of detailed Literacy planning with linked cross-curriculum activities and enhancement and challenge planning); Multi-sensory Approach to Handwriting; Literacy Activities Booklet; Concept About Print Booklet & Tracking; Name Reading & Writing Vision, Stages of Development and Tracking
* Autumn 2 text plans will be shared through a twilight meeting towards the end of autumn 1. The texts will be i) ‘The Little Red Hen’ – Traditional Tale (ii) ‘Leaf Thief ‘ – Alice Hemming
